It is not the ridicule of others that is blocking happiness, but perhaps, you are blocking it.
It is all about the science at the level of the brain; if hugging that digital construct feels good, then it increases the production of oxytocin in the brain. That makes you a happier person.

I hear hugs also help low blood pressure.
